The weekly Wednesday retirees group ride (18 Mar) will be at Harwood's, 2 PM

  • March 18, 2026 2:00 PM | Anonymous member (Administrator)

    Here’s how to order:

    1. Go to EVMA’s Team Store: https://www.cutawayusa.com/collections/evma

    2. Select your style: zip-front, club-cut jersey (men’s & women’s) or Enduro-style riding shirt (unisex).  Get one for the road and one for the trails!  See pictures below and on the site.

    3. Select your size.  See FAQs below for sizing info & how to try on samples before you order.

    4. Enter your payment & shipping info. Tax & shipping will be added to jersey cost.

    5. Wait patiently until mid-May when your jersey shows up at your address.

    6. Proudly wear your EVMA jersey wherever you ride!

    FAQs:

Q: Tell me about sizing.  What about kids’ sizes?  How can I try on samples to choose my size?

A: Club cut jersey is snugger; Enduro shirt is looser.  Sizes range from 4XS to 4XL depending on the style, so you can find one to work for kids.  We have samples for you to try on!  To try them on:

    • Join us at weekend rides or trail work through March 28; or
    • Reply to the latest EVMA weekly e-mail about a custom fitting appointment in Williamsburg, and with advance notice & within reason.

Q: Why does it take until May?

A: Our store is open until March 28 for people to order, then Cutaway will tally the orders & start producing our batch of jerseys, and then ship them directly to you.

    Q: Who is Cutaway?

A: A Virginia-based company who has provided excellent customer service (thanks Phillip!) and provided jerseys for Colonial Revolution youth race team in Williamsburg (among many other groups).

Q: Is EVMA making $ off this?

A: Nope. Well, unless we get a lot of orders and exceed the breakpoint, then we might get a volume discount and a small refund check to EVMA.  If you want us to profit, donate @ EVMA.org, Donate!

Q: Will you do more jersey orders, and with new designs or items like long sleeves, wind jackets, etc.?

A: We plan to!  Please be thinking about what items you’d like, or design/color changes for the next order.   We’ll let you know before future orders so we can get your input.  Styles/items will be based on interest and meeting quantity minimums.

Group Ride, Saturday April 4, 10:00 AM @ Freedom Park to practice some features: Meet ride leader Wynn Yang in the big grass field at 10:00 AM to practice riding some Trail C features.  This is NOT a skills clinic, but a chance for riders who want to get better at some of Trail C's easy/medium features (jumps, drops, etc.) to practice together for encouragement & confidence.  We'll focus on the new Log Drop (easy 18" drop) and the first 2 Gap Jumps (not the 3rd big Ladder Gap), and depending on the group may try some other "Blue" features, but not "Black" features like Shotgun, Big Easy, or OCD.  Wynn took the 3.14.26 afternoon Advanced skills clinic and wants to hone his skills, but all are welcome even if you didn't take the clinic.  *Ride is weather dependent.

Tuesday March 3, Harwoods Mill Night Ride: CANCELED. It's wet but not too bad, but cancelling due to the combination of cold temps, no sun to help dry it out, and very low turnout at this Tus night ride this season.  Thanks to Steve Carlson for leading these rides are season (when we didn't have to cancel!).

Wednesday March 4, New Quarter Park Night Ride: RIDE ON as scheduled!

Thursday March 5, Freedom Park Night Ride: RIDE ON as scheduled!

*ALWAYS CHECK BACK HERE SHORTLY BEFORE EACH RIDE TO CONFIRM THE STATUS.

    Night Ride Details:

All rides begin at 6:00 PM, but arrive early enough to get geared up, signed, & ready to roll by 6:00.

2 lights required: usually one for your helmet & one on your bars.

These are group rides, so we'll decide as a group what route to take and (mostly) stick together with some stops to regroup.

We must be off the trails by 7:45 and out of the gates by 8:00 PM.

Finally some nice weather on a weekend!  Highs in the 60s on Sunday, March 1.  Come get your ride on before it rains again Monday!

Join us for a group ride on Sunday, March 1 at Wahrani Nature Trail, 17485 Eltham Rd. Lanexa (between Barhamsville & West Point).  10:00 AM wheels rolling time.  This is an "introduction to Wahrani" ride meant for folks who haven't ridden there, or want some guiding.  There will be plenty of stops and chances to session the features spurs.  There are several short, punchy climbs, but there is always a fun reward with downhills, tabletops, berms, doubles, and even a small creek gap jump.

Related note: on 2/25/26 we placed an order for about 75 sign posts and a few hundred decals for our sign/wayfinding project.  We hope to have them installed within a few months.

Want to get push notifications when trails are closed due to weather/wet conditions?  James City County just added Freedom Park to their Rainout Line.  Sign up at the Rainout Line Website https://rainoutline.com/subscribe/notify/7572392002/0 and use the tabs to choose app, text, or e-mail alerts.  You can sign up to get alerts only for Freedom Park Trails A-E, or any JCC facilities that face weather closures.  (*This is ONLY for Freedom Park bike trail closures, but if Freedom trails are closed, we should avoid nearby trails like New Quarter, YRSP, Wahrani, Harwoods Mill, Mariners Lake, etc.)  You can also still call 757-259-4022 x1, or visit here: https://jamescitycountyva.gov/Facilities/Facility/Details/Freedom-Park-7.

Join us for trail work at New Quarter Park Saturday, Jan 3, 10:00 AM. Please arrive early so we can start at 10:00.

We plan to rebuild a berm at the 0.4m mark on the trail (left hand turn), and depending on turnout have a few other small projects to work on.  Bring work gloves and water; we'll have all the tools.  Bring your bike to ride into the work location and/or to ride afterwards. But be able to keep it locked up at your vehicle in case you end up walking in with tools.

Meeting location: overflow parking/race area along the park road.  The EVMA tool trailer will be there, so look for the EVMA banners/flags and park there.  We'll walk or ride bikes to the work locations.  Some people can ride in, others will walk/wheelbarrow in tools.
